Installing Your Mailbox
Hole Diggers Wheelbarrow** 1 60lb Bag of Concrete – the Quick Set is ideal Level – at least a 2ft. level is ideal Phillip's Head Screwdriver 7/16 wrench (or pliers will do) ***Please check to make sure you have all components of the mailbox. Before Installing Before installing mailbox, you want to first put it all together. Start by attaching the one of a kind flag to the mailbox using the included screws with a Philip's head screwdriver. Then attach the number plate using a Philip's head screwdriver (if you did not purchase a number plate, then screw in the plugs that are included.) Attach the mailbox to the one piece post by attached the four bolts that are included using a 7/16 wrench. Once the mailbox is complete assembled, you can begin installation. Dig Hole and Add Rock Once your hole is dug, it is a good idea to add 4" of rock or gravel, due to settling. This will create a footing for your concrete as well as provide stability in settling instances. If you live in an area where you have hard soil, such as prairie soil, this step may not be needed. Mix Concrete Mix your 60lb concrete in a wheelbarrow to a desired consistency. The concrete should not have any powder or residue. Make sure it is a good consistency that is not too hard. **A wheelbarrow is not necessarily needed. It is best to use a wheelbarrow or some object big enough to hold 60lbs of concrete. You can just pour the dry concrete in the hole after you have put the mailbox in the hole and just add water. I do not recommend this, however you can do it this way. The only sure way of knowing your concrete is consistent is to pre-mix it. Install and Level Mailbox ![]() Next place the mailbox in the hole. Pour the rest of the concrete around the hole making sure that you get a good consistent amount of concrete all around the post. Once the concrete is in the hole, get a level and level the mailbox, not the post. Again, Once the concrete dries, you are ready to enjoy your mailbox. The quick set concrete only takes about 15 to 30 minutes to dry – depending on how humid it is. To enhance your mailbox even more, plant some flowers around it to give it a beautiful setting. If you have any questions about installation, please email me anytime. Enjoy your Imperial Mailbox System. |
